5 Steps To Make 2018 Your Year.

It’s finally here. January 1st. The long awaited day, the day which will bring change, progress and the start of beautiful things.

And yet, it feels like any other day. Tomorrow will probably feel the same, if not for a change in temperature. But yet, New Year is regarded as an opportunity in itself, a time to turn the page, bury the past and start again.

If you have read 4 surefire ways to achieve your resolutions, you know that for me, resolutions can be achieved at any time, on any day and waiting for New Year is a waste of time.

That being said, it’s true that 2018 can be your year. It can be the best combination of 365 days in your whole existence, if you make the most of each and every day. You see, trying to make the most of a whole year will seem like too much. But trying to make the best of a day? An hour? A couple of minutes? That floats our boat, I dare say.

So this year, keep your goals in mind and work towards them day by day. This year, keep time to laugh and have fun, try to make each number on the calendar mean something more than a boring day. It doesn’t have to be much.

Chat with your friends after a long day at work. Talk a breather down the road when you are bored. Listen to your favourite music while you shower. Go to bed thinking about the things you have accomplished. Tell your loved ones how grateful you are to have them. Because one simple happy incident a day, for 365 days, can make your year.

There will be tears, but courage as well. Where problems will spring, so will the solutions. Failure and pain, success and joy are never loyal companions. Things will get better each and every time. Don’t ever forget that. Just overcome the pain Elsa-style.

But you know what could turn this year into a phenomenal one?

If you stopped comparing yourself to others. There will always be someone who seems to be better, brighter, smarter, but, to be the best you can be, you have to be yourself. As from today, remind yourself that you are an individual, as we all are, different from each other. We are like snowflakes, unique but beautiful in our own way.

Cherish inner beauty, be kinder, more generous, laugh louder, smile more, encourage and inspire, work hard to be what is lacking in your world. You are so so beautiful and you should stop measuring your own worth on the basis of other people.

And the most important lesson to be kept in mind– to truly succeed you will have to fail. So fail a thousand times, fail till you know exactly what you are doing wrong, fail without guilt but with determination and never give up, because success can come on the next attempt, always.

So, to take on 2018 the best way,

1. Leave all negative feelings behind. The grudges, the hate and the insecurity, gone, forgotten and destroyed. But treasure the lessons, the experience and all the things you’ve learnt about life. Think of all the past year like an experiment and kiss it goodbye. Now that you know the drill, keep going!

2. Try to make each day a little better.

3. Keep in mind that both happy and bad times are not constant.

4. Be your own self, despite everyone else. Be proud to be you and never compare yourself to others.

5. Fail, fail, fail, but get back up.

On that note, I wish you a Happy New Year with the assurance that you will turn 2018 into the year of achievement, success despite failure, and blooming relationships. Cheers to you!

  2. What a lovely post! The main thing I take away from this is not to compare yourself to others. It’s so easily done, and it just leaves us feeling rubbish.

  3. Thanks so so much for the motivation! It was much needed. I always feel so guilty when I don’t perform the way I want to, but for some reason I just can’t get myself to improve. So thank you for the tips. Honestly, I feel true motivation comes from self realization, but your article helps me to achieve that. It is really well written too. Happy new year!!
